Parliament meeting underway to endorse Constitution Amendment Bill

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament has started in the parliament building in New Baneshwor on Saturday.

The meeting is expected to endorse the Second Amendment Bill to the Constitution of Nepal

The lawmakers are now deliberating on the Constitution Amendment Bill.

Following the clause-wise deliberation over the Bill, the process for endorsing the Bill will be taken forward.

The constitution is being amended to make the Coat of Arms the part of the Constitution after the government issued a revised map of the country by incorporating Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura on May 20.

Once the Constitution Amendment Bill is endorsed by the House of Representatives today, the newly revised map containing Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh and Kalapani will be incorporated in the Coat of Arms and the Constitution.

Nepal has taken the stand that Limpiyadhura is the origin of the Kali River and thereby the land east of Kali River belongs to Nepal as per the Sugauli Treaty.
