Coronavirus pandemic has been politicized: Health Minister Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal has said that the government is facing additional challenges to stem the spread of coronavirus pandemic as the issue has been widely politicized of late.

He expressed worry over the fear of coronavirus spread due to the ongoing demonstrations across the country.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Dhakal said the government was ‘troubled’ by the infection in the beginning days. However, now the government is ‘deeply trouble’ as the issue of coronavirus has been politicized.

“I would like to warn that the danger of spreading the pandemic has increased due to the gatherings,” Minister Dhakal said, adding that the government has to combat pandemic and politics simultaneously.

He hinted that the government will adopt to a different modality now to stem the pandemic.
