Former IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri released



KATHMANDU: Former IGP Ramesh Chand Thakuri who has been serving a jail-term after being convicted in the Sudan scam is released today.

Thakuri is freed from Dilli Bazaar jail where he was incarcerated one year ago.

He had been charged for corruption while serving as the IGP of Nepal, leading to his suspension from the top post.

The Supreme Court convicted police officials including Thakur on the charge of embezzling a huge amount of money in the procurement of APC for the United Nations Mission in Sudan.
