Govt to discuss with transport entrepreneurs to operate public vehicles

KATHMANDU: The government said it would discuss with transport entrepreneurs whether or not public transportation can be operated by maintaining physical distance.

As the public vehicles will be allowed to carry only a few passengers, the government has doubts whether the entrepreneurs will agree to resume their services with the previous fairs.

A government source said the passengers will be required to maintain physical distance inside the vehicles.

“We need to ensure that the concerned agrees to abide by the instruction of physical distancing,” he said.

The government has come up with a three-phase relaxation of the lockdown beginning today.

The first stage will run for 21 days and the next two stages for 15 days each.

According to the cabinet decision, essential services, and agricultural sector will be opened from today adopting safety measures and social distancing.
