Coronavirus death toll in Nepal reaches 13

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported two new COVID-19 deaths taking the tally to 13, the Ministry of Health and Population stated.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Saturday, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Bikash Devkota said that new deaths have been reported in Dolpa and Kailali districts.

COVID-19 result of a 58-year-old man of Jagadulla Rural Municipality-3 of Dolpa who died on Tuesday has come positive, he said. The man was in home quarantine after reaching Dolpa from Surkhet with his friends on Sunday.

His throat swab was collected two days after the death and sent for a PCR test, according to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota.

Likewise, a 55-year-old woman of Dhangadhi-4 has died of coronavirus.

She was a kidney patient and died while undergoing dialysis at Seti Hospital on Friday afternoon. She had tested positive for coronavirus, according to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota.

On death has been reported in Sindhupalchowk, one in Banke, one in Gulmi, one in Bara, one in Lalitpur, one in Arghakhanchi, one in Dailekh, one in Bajura, one in Dolakha, one in Palpa, one in Surkhet, one in Dolpa and one in Kailali so far.

Deaths so far:

A 29-year-old new mother from Ramche in Bahrabise municipality, Sindhupalchowk was the first person to die of coronavirus in the country on May 14.

Likewise, the second death was a 25-year old man who died in quarantine in Banke on May 17.

A 70-year-old man died at National Medical College in Birgunj on May 17. He was the third and a 41-year-old man from Madane rural municipality of Gulmi who died at the Crimson Hospital on May 21 was the fourth to die of COVID-19.

Similarly, a person died in India while returning to Nepal on May 23. He was the fifth one to die while an elderly man from Bungmati of Lalitpur district died on May 27 to become the sixth one die of COVID-19.

The seventh was a 35-year-old man from Dullu-11 of Dailekh who died in a quarantine center.

Similarly, the eighth victim became a two-year-old girl who breathed her last at an isolation ward of Bajura District Hospital.

The ninth was a male from Dolakha who died at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.

The 10th death was a 45-year-old man from Palpa who died in the course of treatment in the Palpa Mission Hospital on June 2. The deceased was from Purba Khola Rural Municipality of Palpa.

The 11th death was of an 18-year-boy who died in Surkhet on Thursday. The youth of Panchapuri municipality-1 had died as soon as he returned home after spending time in quarantine.

Likewise, the coronavirus report of a 58-year-old man of Jagadulla Rural Municipality-3 of Dolpa who died on Tuesday come positive on Saturday. He is the 12th victim of coronavirus.

The man was in home quarantine after reaching Dolpa from Surkhet with his friends on Sunday. His throat swab was collected two days after the death and sent for a PCR test, according to Karnali Province Ministry of Social Development.

The 13th death was of a 55-year-old woman of Dhangadhi-4. She was a kidney patient and died while undergoing dialysis at Seti Hospital on Friday afternoon. She had tested positive for coronavirus at the PCR test at the hospital.
