Swab collection halted in Sudur Paschim

DHANGADI: Throat swab collection for testing Coronavirus has been stopped in the Sudur Paschim State. The collection was stopped after the only laboratory to test COVID-19 in Dhangadi received swab samples more than its capacity.

It has been stopped for five days. The PCR laboratory has the capacity to test 250 samples in a day. However, there are 1,083 samples that are yet to be tested at the laboratory.

Since the swab collected will damage if they are left without testing for many days, the collection has been stopped for the moment, said Director of the State Health Directorate Gunaraj Awasthi. The swab collection will resume after the samples remaining at the laboratory is tested.
