KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana has expressed concern that the government has not awakened even though the epidemic has forced mankind to think about nature.

Tweeting on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday, he said that respecting the environment would benefit the world community.

In this sense, he said, there should be a change in the mindset of the ruling class in Nepal as well.

“The welfare of mankind is in respecting the environment. The coronavirus pandemic has forced the world to think about its relationship with nature. It is clear that the Finance Minister and the government have not been awakened by the rising tax on electric vehicles along with the ethical question of leaking budget information,” Rana wrote.

Stressing on the interrelationship between environment protection and human health, he said, “I wish there would be a change of mind on Environment Day.”
