Tatopani Customs Office collects Rs 1.270 billion revenue



SINDHUPALCHOK: The Tatopani Customs Office has collected Rs 1.270 billion revenue in the current fiscal year so far. The private sector has been importing health products for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection, which has shown a positive impact on the revenue collection in Tatopani Customs Office.

According to Lal Bahadur Khatri, Chief at the office, they have collected Rs 1.270 billion till last Monday. Similarly, the revenue of Rs 1.089 billion was collected as the end of February.

Likewise, the office collected a revenue of Rs. 183.1 million since April 8 to last Monday. A total of Rs 127.5 million revenue has been collected from May 14.

The government has waived customs duty on the import of health products.

The customs office was reopened on April 8. Most of the materials related to prevention and testing of Covid-19 have been imported from the checkpoint. As the lockdown continues, goods worth Rs 1.78 billion have entered through the checkpoint.

He said medicines, agricultural inputs, machinery, ambulances and apples and garlic were among the items imported from the Tatopani checkpoint. According to the customs’ office, only Rs 1.62 billion health items have been imported since April 8.

Similarly, apples and garlic worth Rs. 112 million, rice seeds worth Rs. 44.4 million, agricultural inputs worth Rs. 82 million and ambulances worth Rs. 49 million were imported during the period.
