NHRC sends team to probe into Rukum West incident

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said has sent its team to Rukum West and Jajarkot to probe into the incident in which six youths were killed over an inter-caste marriage.

The NHRC team led by Chandrakanta Chapagain, Deputy Director, will investigate the status of caste-based discrimination, incident’s premises, and social goodwill in the area.

The NHRC has also urged all sections of the society to not capitalize the incident to instigate inhumane activities.

The human rights body has also urged local representatives, police, political parties, civil society, human rights defenders, and the locals of the district to support the NHRC team in conducting investigation into the incident.
