NC calls CC meeting on Saturday

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party in the parliament, Nepali Congress (NC), has called its central committee meeting at the party office in Sanepa on Saturday to discuss further the party’s line about the constitution amendment proposal put forward by the government.

After the government’s latest decision not to table the constitution amendment bill previously ‘scheduled’ on Wednesday, NC has called its central committee meeting to discuss about the amendment bill.

The meeting of the party’s office bearers held four days before had expressed the party’s solidarity with the government’s stand on the Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura, Kalapani dispute and the issuance of the revised map of Nepal.

According to NC spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma, the party’s CC meeting scheduled for Saturday will discuss the issue of constitution amendment.

“The meeting will discuss various issues related with the ongoing pandemic crisis and the recent dispute related with Nepal’s Kalapani, Limpiyadhura area,” spokesperson Sharma said. “The CC members will mainly discuss about the proposed constitution amendment bill,” he added.

Nepali Congress has expressed its concern over India’s construction of road on Nepali territory in Limpiyadhura, Kalapani area.
