Rain-triggered landslides block five major roads

KATHMANDU: Several roads in Gorkha, Kavrepalanchok and Surkhet have been blocked by landslides triggered by continuous rainfall, according to the Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, vehicle movement along Kanti Lokpath, which connects Makawanpur and Lalitpur, has been suspended at night due to the risk of further landslides.

In Gorkha, road connectivity between Arughat Rural Municipality-2 and Ward No. 3 has been disrupted after a motorable iron bridge over the Soti stream was washed away by flooding in the Budhi Gandaki River.

The BP Highway has been completely blocked by landslides at Pinthali in Roshi Rural Municipality-9 and Gimdibesi in Ward No. 8 of Kavrepalanchok.

Similarly, the Karnali Highway has been completely blocked following a dry landslide at Aulise in Barahatal Rural Municipality-7, Surkhet.
