KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has arranged alternative routes to maintain the supply of LPG gas and petroleum products to Kathmandu Valley and surrounding districts after the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway was blocked by a massive flood in the Trishuli River.
The road section in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 of Dhading was obstructed on Sunday after the river eroded the road.
Following the disruption, the NOC held discussions with LPG gas industry operators and made special arrangements to maintain supplies and address transportation difficulties.
According to the corporation, coordination has been established with gas industries in Bara, Parsa, Chitwan, Makwanpur and Nawalparasi, as well as industries in other accessible districts, to ensure a smooth supply of LPG to Kathmandu and surrounding areas.
Until the Krishnabhir section is reopened, gas bullets will be emptied at the respective industries and cylinders will be refilled. The cylinders will then be transported by trucks through alternative routes to Kathmandu Valley and neighbouring districts for distribution.
The NOC spokesperson said tankers and trucks carrying petroleum products and LPG would also be brought into Kathmandu through alternative routes in coordination with local administrations.
The corporation said the arrangements have been made to ensure the continued and safe supply of petroleum products and LPG while the Prithvi Highway remains disrupted.
