Cloudy skies, thunderstorms likely nationwide today



KATHMANDU: The influence of westerly winds and a low-pressure system has led to cloudy conditions across most parts of the country.

At present, a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere over the eastern region, combined with westerly and local wind systems, is affecting the weather nationwide.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, most areas are experiencing cloudy skies. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds is occurring in many parts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some areas of Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

Light to moderate rainfall has also been reported in one or two places in Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally to completely cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions. Snowfall is also likely in parts of the Himalayan region.

Tonight, the Himalayan region is expected to remain generally cloudy, while hilly and Terai regions will see partly cloudy conditions. The division has forecast moderate rainfall and snowfall in some mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with isolated precipitation in other regions.
