KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal has instructed construction companies to report any government employee demanding extra fees or commissions on ongoing projects.
Following a meeting with the minister, the Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs’ Association issued a circular on Sunday directing its members not to pay any additional sums beyond contract agreements.
During discussions led by association president Ravi Singh, builders raised concerns about delays in payments and pressure to give percentage-based commissions even after completing work.
“The payment process often involves unnecessary hurdles and demands for extra money,” the circular noted, signed by general secretary Roshan Dahal.
Minister Lamsal emphasized that any instance of officials demanding extra fees would be met with strict action, urging contractors to complete work on time without compromising on quality.
