National banking asset management company to be established by Poush deadline



KATHMANDU: The government has announced that a National Banking Asset Management Company will be established by the end of December to address long-standing issues in the financial sector.

Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the budget for fiscal year 2026/27 in the Federal Parliament.

He said the new institution will be set up to manage distressed assets in the banking sector, which have been accumulating over time and creating pressure on financial stability.

The move is expected to help resolve non-performing assets and improve overall efficiency in the banking system.
