Weather remains unstable due to low-pressure system



KATHMANDU: Unstable weather conditions are expected to continue across Nepal today as the combined effect of westerly and local winds persists, along with a low-pressure system in the east, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

According to the Division, the Himalayan and hilly regions are currently generally cloudy, while the Terai region is partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning has been recorded in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division said conditions will remain generally cloudy across the country this afternoon. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as other hilly and mountainous areas.

One or two places in the Terai of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, including Madhesh Province, may also receive rainfall. Light snowfall is possible in high Himalayan areas.

Gale-force winds may occur in some parts of the Terai and hilly regions of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions, including Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, while other areas may see partly cloudy conditions.

Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some places in Sudurpaschim, Lumbini, Karnali, Bagmati, Gandaki and Koshi provinces, and in one or two places in the Terai of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Madhesh provinces.

The Division has urged the public to remain alert, citing the possibility of strong winds in parts of the Terai and hilly regions.
