NC suspends Ramechhap district President Kanchharam

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has suspended its Ramechhap district President Purna Bahadur Tamang, also known as ‘Kanchharam’, on charges of breaching party discipline.

According to the party’s Central Disciplinary Committee, Tamang was earlier asked to furnish clarification for allegedly making misleading and factually incorrect statements against the party leadership.

However, the committee concluded that his response was neither satisfactory nor convincing, leading to his suspension until a final decision is reached.

The party stated that further investigation into the disciplinary violation is ongoing, and during this period, Tamang will not be allowed to carry out his duties as district chair.

Meanwhile, the party said that the clarification process involving former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka has been put on hold following a recent verdict by the Supreme Court of Nepal, which rendered the matter irrelevant.
