Prachanda elected leader of NCP parliamentary party



KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party.

The decision was made during a meeting of the elected members of the House of Representatives at Parisdanda, Kathmandu, on Sunday.

In the parliamentary elections held on March 5, the NCP won 17 seats, including 8 through direct elections and 9 through proportional representation.

Prachanda, who had previously represented Gorkha in 2079 BS, contested this time from Rukum East, a stronghold of the Maoist party, and secured a safe victory.
