Light rain and snowfall likely in some places today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system combined with local winds, resulting in generally cloudy conditions across the country.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, thunderstorms with lightning and moderate to heavy rain and snowfall are occurring in some areas of Koshi Province and Bagmati Province.

The Division stated that hilly and mountainous regions will remain generally cloudy this afternoon, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. There is a likelihood of light rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in some hilly and mountainous areas.

Tonight, hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Karnali Province are expected to remain generally cloudy, along with mountainous regions in other provinces.

Other hilly areas will be partly cloudy, while the Terai region will experience mostly clear weather. Light rain and snowfall are likely in parts of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, as well as in one or two locations in the mountainous areas of Bagmati Province.

The Division has urged the public and relevant authorities to take necessary precautions, as thunderstorms, lightning, and light precipitation may affect some hilly and mountainous regions.
