Kohalpur–Surkhet 132 kV transmission line construction completed



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has completed construction of the Kohalpur–Surkhet section of the 132 kV transmission line.

The transmission line has been built under the Kohalpur–Surkhet–Dailekh 132 kV transmission line project with joint investment from the Government of Nepal and the Nepal Electricity Authority.

NEA Spokesperson Rajan Dhakal said the newly completed transmission line will be integrated into the national power system immediately. According to him, electricity at a capacity of 132 kilovolts will be transmitted through the 132 kV double-circuit transmission line from the Kohalpur substation in Banke to the substation constructed at Subbakuna in Surkhet district, with testing scheduled to begin from Magh 16.

Following the completion of testing, the transmission line will be brought into operation. Spokesperson Dhakal urged the public to exercise caution during the testing phase.

He requested people not to climb transmission towers, avoid touching any objects related to the line, stay away from tower areas, prevent livestock from approaching the towers, refrain from touching electrical structures marked with danger signs, and ensure that children do not go near or touch the towers.
