HoR polls: EC to use Nepal-made election materials

KATHMANDU: With 35 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to use domestically produced materials as much as possible.

The policy aims to make the elections economical and transparent while promoting and encouraging local products. According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, a total of 51 types of materials will be used in the elections, of which 37 are being procured in a decentralized manner from provincial and district levels.

Of the remaining materials, 14 types are being procured at the central level, with the majority of purchases assigned to the Salt Trading Company. Bhattarai said that new materials worth only Rs 67.5 million have been procured for the elections, while most materials are being reused from previous polls.
