KATHMANDU: The bodies of 538 people swept away by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa have been found, while 977 people remain missing.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said that 538 bodies had been recovered from various districts as of 3 pm on Friday.
According to the authority, 12 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 37 in Nuwakot, 33 in Dhading, 46 in Gorkha, 134 in Nawalparasi East, 27 in Nawalparasi West, 28 in Tanahun and 221 in Chitwan.
A total of 977 people have remained missing over the past three days due to the floods. According to the authority, those missing include 28 personnel from the Nepal Police, 45 from the Nepal Army, 13 from the Armed Police Force, one from the Customs Office and four from the Immigration Office.
In addition, 161 people from Rasuwa, one from Nuwakot and 66 from Makawanpur have been reported missing, according to the authority.
Similarly, 517 foreign nationals visiting Nepal have gone missing. Another 127 Nepali nationals living abroad who had come to Nepal for visits have also been missing for the past three days, the NDRRMA said.
So far, 73 people have been injured. Of them, 43 are from Rasuwa, three from Dhading and 27 from Nuwakot. They are receiving treatment at various health facilities.
Over the past three days, 3,742 people have been rescued. Similarly, 25 foreign nationals have also been rescued. The rescue operations were carried out through 78 flights operated by the Nepal Army and private helicopter companies.
