Nepal men’s cricket team bid farewell ahead of Asian Games qualifiers in Singapore



KATHMANDU: The Nepali men’s national cricket team has been officially bid farewell ahead of their departure to Singapore for the Asian Games Cricket Qualifiers.

The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) organized a farewell ceremony in Kathmandu on Thursday as the team prepares for the tournament, which begins on May 31 in Singapore.

In the qualifiers, Nepal is placed in Group A alongside Malaysia and China, while Group B consists of Oman, Hong Kong, Bahrain, and Singapore. Qatar, originally in Group A, has withdrawn from the competition.

Speaking at the farewell program, Nepal captain Dipendra Singh Airee expressed confidence that the team’s strong preparation and positive atmosphere would help them deliver good results in Singapore.

Head coach Stuart Law also said the team is motivated and optimistic about performing well in the tournament.

The top two teams from the semifinals will secure qualification for men’s cricket at the Asian Games. The cricket event at the Asian Games will be held from September 17 to October 3 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and host Japan have already secured direct entry into the competition.
