Parliamentary committee forms subcommittee to review national pride projects

KATHMANDU: The Infrastructure Development Committee has formed a subcommittee to study the current status, operational challenges, and possible solutions of national pride projects.

A meeting of the committee held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to form a seven-member subcommittee under the coordination of MP Shriram Neupane, according to committee chair Ashish Gajurel.

Chair Gajurel said the subcommittee’s report will help facilitate more effective discussions with concerned stakeholders regarding the status of national pride projects in the coming days.

During the meeting, the member secretary of the National Planning Commission, Ravi Lal Panthi, briefed the committee on the physical and financial progress of ongoing national pride projects.

He highlighted that financial constraints, contractors’ capacity issues, and existing legal frameworks have been creating challenges in completing projects on time.

Committee members suggested that ministers from relevant ministries should also be invited for detailed discussions on issues within the committee’s jurisdiction.

The meeting also formed a drafting subcommittee under the coordination of MP Rajendra Rai to prepare the committee’s working procedure.

The subcommittee has been given seven days to submit its report.
