NC leader Purna Bahadur Khadka convenes faction meeting

KATHMANDU: Outgoing Acting President of Nepali Congress (NC), Purna Bahadur Khadka, has called a meeting of leaders aligned with his faction today.

Invitations have been extended to senior leaders, central committee members elected from the 14th General Convention, as well as district and regional presidents currently available in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to leaders close to Khadka, the meeting is scheduled to take place at Hotel Smart in Dhumbarahi at 11:00 am.

Earlier, Khadka’s faction had held a meeting at the same venue and decided to adopt a wait-and-see approach.

Khadka has expressed dissatisfaction since the party’s reorganization under the leadership of Gagan Thapa following the special general convention. He had also filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court seeking to annul the convention.

However, after the court dismissed the petition and recognized the leadership under Thapa, Khadka has continued consultations with leaders from his faction.

The party establishment had sought clarification from Khadka, alleging that his activities were against party discipline, but he did not respond.
