KATHMANDU: Nepal Tarun Dal, the sister organization of the Nepali Congress, has strongly criticized the government over the arrest of former prime minister KP Sharma Oli and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak, calling it the height of political vendetta and prejudice.
In a press statement issued today, Tarun Dal President Bidwan Gurung said the government’s move was a direct attack on the rule of law and warned that it could push the country toward serious instability.
“The current government, instead of embracing the public mandate and working toward the country’s prosperity, has chosen to arrest top political leaders based on political retaliation, which is highly condemnable,” the statement read.
The organization also expressed serious concern that such unilateral and ill-intentioned actions could undermine democratic values and norms.
Tarun Dal warned the government to reconsider its decision, arguing that such activities could trigger unnecessary conflict and instability in the country. It also stressed that maintaining national stability, unity, and social harmony is a shared responsibility of all sides.
The organization further said it would strongly resist any move that obstructs the path to peace and prosperity, while emphasizing the need for dialogue and cooperation among democratic forces.
