Upendra Yadav claims Madhesh will now determine nation’s future

SAPTARI: Chairperson of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has claimed that Madhesh, as a decisive political force, will now determine the country’s future.

Addressing voters during a door-to-door campaign on Saturday, Yadav, who is contesting the House of Representatives election from Saptari Constituency-3, said the country cannot achieve prosperity if Madhesh continues to be neglected as in the past.

“Madhesh is not merely a geographical region; it is a powerful voice of dignity and rights,” Yadav said. “The decisive force now is Madhesh, and it is Madhesh that will shape the future of the nation.”

Recalling the movements, sacrifices, and struggles of the Madheshi people, he argued that federalism will only be strengthened if Madhesh becomes strong. According to him, a secure and prosperous nation is possible only when Madhesh is empowered.

Yadav asserted that JSP Nepal has consistently raised issues related to Madhesh’s agenda, discrimination, oppression, and identity, from the grassroots level to national and international platforms. “Those who refuse to acknowledge or understand the historical injustice and structural discrimination faced by Madhesh cannot be true well-wishers of Madhesh,” he said.

He described past struggles not merely as history but as the foundation for the future. Ignoring Madhesh, he warned, would render dreams of development and prosperity hollow slogans.

Taking an apparent swipe at emerging political forces, Yadav questioned how parties that lack a clear agenda addressing Madhesh’s problems and oppression could claim to lead the region. “Some forces are focused only on securing Madhesh’s votes, but they show no sensitivity toward the poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, and state discrimination that Madhesh has endured for centuries,” he said.

Stating that the upcoming election is not just about choosing representatives but about safeguarding Madhesh’s dignity, rights, and future, Yadav urged voters to remain aware, united, and firm in voting for the region’s identity and self-respect.

He expressed confidence that JSP Nepal would emerge from the election as a decisive political force.
