Nighttime businesses barred in Kaski from Monday citing election security concerns

GANDAKI: The District Administration Office (DAO) in Kaski has imposed restrictions on nighttime businesses starting Monday, citing security sensitivities surrounding the upcoming House of Representatives election.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, the DAO stated that until further notice, hotels, restaurants, dohori establishments, clubs, dance bars, liquor shops, and other nighttime businesses will be allowed to operate only until 9:00 pm.

The decision has been taken in view of maintaining public peace, security, and social harmony during the election period. The office has requested cooperation from all concerned stakeholders to ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.

The DAO warned that monitoring will be carried out to ensure compliance with the directive. Any violation of the notice will invite action in accordance with prevailing laws.

The administration has also appealed to the public not to celebrate the upcoming Holi festival in a manner that leads to large public gatherings. It has urged people to avoid organizing fairs, musical events, or any programs that draw crowds in streets and public spaces, citing election security concerns and the election code of conduct.

According to the notice, no permission has been granted for organizing Holi-related public events. The office has encouraged residents to celebrate the festival in a decent and culturally respectful manner within their homes and family circles.
