KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today, according to the Weather Forecast Division.
On Friday, the minimum temperature in the capital was 9.5 degrees Celsius. At the time of the last measurement at 8:45 am, it stood at 9.4 degrees Celsius.
The official minimum temperature for any given day is recorded at 8:45 am. Meteorologists say the minimum temperature may sometimes decline slightly by that time or remain close to the early morning reading.
On Thursday, Kathmandu’s minimum temperature was 8.5 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, minimum temperatures tend to rise when the weather changes and the sky remains cloudy overnight, while clear skies during the night generally cause temperatures to drop.
Similarly, maximum temperatures decrease if conditions remain cloudy throughout the day and increase when skies are clear and sunny. Despite daily fluctuations, meteorologists note that overall temperatures are gradually rising as winter draws to a close.
The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The lowest temperature recorded in a 24-hour period is considered the minimum temperature, while the highest is the maximum temperature.
The minimum temperature is officially measured at 8:45 am and the maximum temperature at 5:45 pm. Meteorologists explain that the minimum temperature reflects weather conditions from night to early morning, while the maximum temperature indicates conditions during the daytime.
