16 fire incidents reported across the country



KATHMANDU: A total of 20 disaster incidents were reported across the country from the morning of January 26 to Tuesday morning, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Of these, 16 were fire incidents, while four involved animal attacks. The Authority said that two people lost their lives and five others were injured in the incidents. Overall, the disasters caused property damage estimated at Rs 2.564 million.

Three fire incidents were reported in Siraha, while two each occurred in Morang, Bara, and Rautahat. Single incidents were recorded in Sunsari, Bhojpur, Sarlahi, Makawanpur, Lamjung, Pyuthan, and Bajhang. Most of the fires were attributed to negligence.

Animal attack incidents were reported in Sunsari, Saptari, Chitwan, and Dailekh. The Authority has urged the public to remain cautious, noting that fire incidents tend to increase during the dry season.
