HoR polls: Officers assigned to monitor code of conduct



KATHMANDU: With 36 days remaining until voting in the House of Representatives (HoR) election, the Election Commission (EC) has assigned officers to monitor compliance with the election code of conduct.

EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that assistant chief district officers in each district have been designated to oversee the enforcement of the code of conduct to ensure a free and fair election scheduled for March 5.

He clarified that assistant chief district officers will be responsible for monitoring all aspects of the code of conduct except financial matters. Officers from the Comptroller General’s Office have been appointed as election monitors to oversee financial issues. The election code of conduct has been in force since January 18.
