PARBAT: Twenty-five houses have been swept away in Jaljala Rural Municipality–8 of Parbat after the swollen Kaligandaki River entered the settlement.
According to the Nepal Police, the river overflowed into the settlement at around 8 a.m. on Sunday. There were around 80 houses in the settlement, of which 25 have been washed away. The remaining houses are also at risk, police said.
No human casualties have been reported so far. All residents of the settlement have been relocated to a safe place, according to police.
Police have not yet been able to reach the incident site due to a landslide. The site is located about six kilometres east of the Milanchowk Police Post in Parbat. Further details of the incident are awaited, police said.
