NHRC recommends investigation into filmmakers, social media influencers over Gen-Z movement

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended that the government investigate several filmmakers and social media personalities for their alleged involvement in the Gen-Z movement.

In a report made public on Wednesday, the commission stated that film directors Aman Pratap Adhikari and Nischal Basnet should also be investigated.

The NHRC has further named Bibek Thapaliya, Sisan Baniya, Bhagya Neupane, Tanka Dahal and Victor Poudel among individuals recommended for investigation.

According to the commission, the investigation should determine whether the individuals had any involvement in the human and physical damages reported during the movement, and whether their public expressions or statements contributed to provoking or agitating protesters.

The report also calls for an inquiry into whether their actions or expressions disrupted public peace and order during the protests.
