Rain with gusty winds expected today, hot conditions in Terai



KATHMANDU: Weather conditions across the country remain unstable due to the influence of westerly winds, local winds, and a low-pressure area near eastern Nepal, the Weather Forecasting Division has said.

According to the Division, the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces are generally cloudy at present, while most parts of the Terai remain mainly clear. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, and in a few locations in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while other hilly and mountainous areas will see partial cloud cover. Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places in Lumbini province.

Light to moderate rain is also possible in parts of the Terai in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim.

Hot weather conditions are likely in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Division has also warned of possible windstorms in some areas of the Terai and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes provinces.

Tonight, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while Madhes and other hilly regions may see partial cloud cover.

Most Terai areas are likely to remain mainly clear. Light rain with thunder and lightning may occur in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Madhes and Lumbini provinces. Windstorms are also possible in parts of the Terai and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes provinces.
