Paddy wilt problem reported in Tanahun

TANAHUN: The Agricultural Development Office, Tanahun, has conducted an on-site technical monitoring of rice crops in various municipalities of the district.

The monitoring was carried out in agricultural areas of Myagde, Bandipur, and Aanbukhaireni rural municipalities with the participation of expert technicians from provincial and district-level agricultural bodies.

A joint team comprising technical staff from the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives in Pokhara, the Provincial Agricultural Laboratory Pokhara, the Agricultural Research Centre Pokhara, and the Agricultural Development Office conducted the field visit, the office said.

During the monitoring, the team observed problems faced by farmers directly in the fields. Information Officer Kiran Pariyar said that crop diseases and pest infestations were identified on-site, along with technical advice on their control, management, and ways to improve production.

According to him, paddy wilt disease has been detected in Myagde Rural Municipality-2. Following reports of stunted growth and drying plants, the technical team has advised farmers on appropriate disease management measures.

Similarly, an outbreak of brown planthopper has been observed in rice fields in Myagde Rural Municipality-3. Farmers have been urged to adopt timely control measures, as the pest damages crops and reduces yield, Pariyar added.
