‘Jugal Everest View Point’ identified as new trekking destination

KATHMANDU: A new tourism destination named “Jugal Everest View Point” has been identified in the Jugal Himal, one of the closest Himalayan ranges to Kathmandu.

The Jugal Rural Municipality and its Tourism Development Committee announced in a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday that a successful ascent of the newly identified 5,570-metre trekking peak has been completed.

Officials said the area, long overlooked in Nepal’s tourism map, is now being promoted as a new high-altitude trekking destination with global potential.

According to Rural Municipality Chair Resham Syangbo, the Jugal Everest View Point offers direct panoramic views of Mount Everest along with several other 8,000-metre peaks, including Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse, and Shishapangma.

He said the new route is expected to position Jugal as a major destination for both domestic and international trekkers, boosting local tourism and economic opportunities.

A four-member expedition team had reached the site on Baisakh 3 to assess and establish the route, marking the formal identification of the trekking destination.

Local authorities believe the development could open a new chapter in Nepal’s adventure tourism sector, offering an alternative Himalayan experience close to the capital.
