Bikram Timilsina appointed Communication Minister in Balendra Shah cabinet



KATHMANDU: In the newly formed government led by young Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen), Dr. Bikram Timilsina has been appointed as Communication Minister.

Timilsina, elected from Nuwakot-1, entered parliament for the first time representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He won the seat with 22,609 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Nepali Congress veteran Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, who secured 18,597 votes.

Born in Baniyatar, Panchakanya Rural Municipality, Nuwakot, Timilsina grew up in a family engaged in agriculture. He started formal schooling at Indrayani Primary School in his village and completed his SLC from Chaughada Area School.

He pursued higher studies in Australia, attending Griffith University and University of Queensland, and has over 15 years of experience in the fields of education and communication. About a decade ago, he worked as a producer and presenter at Radio Sagarmatha. During his studies in Australia, he served as Executive Editor of the program “Nepal Express” and as Editorial Advisor for SouthAsia.com.au based in Sydney.

Returning to Nepal, he expressed a commitment to becoming a voice for all communities and fostering national development, emphasizing this message in a video shared on social media before the elections.
