SUNSARI: Eight people have been arrested for allegedly gambling in Itahari, Sunsari, with Rs 456,000 seized from them, police said.
According to Chandra Bahadur Khadka, information officer at the District Police Office, Sunsari, a police team acting on a tip-off arrested the eight individuals on Sunday evening at The Eastern Hotel in Shanti Chowk, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-4, while they were allegedly gambling.
Police identified the arrested individuals as local residents Mohan Ghimire, Manoj Rai, Ishwar Karki, Tikaram Gelal, Jeevan Adhikari, Yubaraj Magar, Durga Prasad Thapa and Khagendra Limbu.
In addition to the cash, police seized seven decks of playing cards allegedly used in the gambling session. Police said further investigation into the case and the involvement of all eight individuals is underway.
