KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall has disrupted traffic on 11 highways and several other road sections across the country, according to the Department of Roads.
In a notice, the Department said floods and landslides triggered by rainfall since September 24 have blocked sections of 11 highways and other roads.
Several points along the Prithvi Highway, including Krishnabhir, Chaukibhir, Jawangkhola and Fisling, have been obstructed, affecting vehicles traveling to Kathmandu from different parts of the country.
Likewise, sections of the BP Highway at Mamti, Piple, Daunne-Kalopul, Charsayabesi, Katunje and Chaukidanda have been blocked.
The Department said traffic has been suspended both during the day and at night in areas considered high-risk due to continued rainfall. Efforts to clear landslides and reopen the affected sections are underway at various locations.
Traffic along the Kanti Highway has also been partially disrupted, particularly at Chapali and Takurche. However, traffic has resumed in the Makwanpur section after landslide debris was cleared.
Sections of the Siddhicharan Highway, including the Okhaldhunga-Salleri stretch and the area near Solukhola, remain blocked.
Similarly, the Nisi Rural Municipality-Kanabagar section of the Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed, while the Belbagar section of the Kaligandaki Corridor in Jaimini Municipality-8 is also blocked.
Traffic has also been disrupted along the Baglung-Beni Highway at locations including Myadi and Hulake.
According to the Department, sections of the Tamor Corridor at Chharuwakhola, Nawakhola and Ranigaun have been obstructed. The Kapurkot-Kharkhola section of the Rapti Highway is also blocked, while traffic along the Karnali Highway has been affected at Gagnekhola, Raka and near Hare.
In addition, the Bhaluwang-Chakchake-Liwang road section has been obstructed at several locations.
