Youth arrested for allegedly threatening to kill PM Balen Shah



KATHMANDU: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly issuing a death threat against Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah through social media.

The arrested man has been identified as Pushkar Dahal, 23, of Bhadrapur Municipality-9, Jhapa, who is currently residing in Kirtipur, Kathmandu.

A special team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Dahal from Nayabazar in Kirtipur.

Police said Dahal has been handed over to the Cyber Bureau for further investigation and necessary legal action.

According to police, Dahal had posted a threatening message on Instagram, stating that he would “finish off” Prime Minister Shah on Bhadra 23. He had also tagged Nepal Police in the post and used abusive language against the security agency.

Police said Dahal is affiliated with the Ujyalo Nepal Party led by Kulman Ghising. The Cyber Bureau is investigating his alleged use of social media to issue threats and challenge the security authorities.
