RSP election: Only 1,289 votes cast for office-bearer posts

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,289 votes were cast in the second phase of voting at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) general convention to elect office bearers in Chitwan.

The turnout was significantly lower than in the first phase, when 2,959 votes were cast to elect central committee members, marking a drop of around 1,670 votes.

The lower participation has been attributed to the prolonged election process, with many delegates leaving for their homes before the second round of voting.

Election Commission member Narayan Pyakurel said voting concluded at 5 pm. Vote counting is currently underway.
