BHARATPUR: Voting has begun for the election of office bearers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). The second phase of elections for party office bearers is being held under the ongoing general convention in Chitwan.
Rabi Lamichhane has been elected unopposed as party Chair, while Dr. Swarnim Wagle has been elected unopposed as the open vice chair.
Elections are currently underway for the posts of women vice chair, general secretary, two open joint general secretaries, and one women’s joint general secretary. Sobita Gautam and Dr. Tosima Karki are contesting for the post of women vice chair.
Manish Jha, Bipin Acharya, Sagar Dhakal, and Ganesh Karki are candidates for the post of general secretary. Several aspirants for the post, including Kabindra Burlakoti, Ranju Darshana, Pramod Neupane, Ganesh Parajuli, Jagadish Kharel, Shishir Khanal, and Rajunath Pande, have withdrawn their candidacies.
Election Commission Chief Bhuwan KC said voting began slightly later than scheduled as efforts to reach consensus on office bearers were unsuccessful.
Asim Shah, Ramesh Prasai, Yagyamani Neupane, Sulabh Kharel, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Milan Limbu, Rajiv Khatri, Bijay Jairu, Hari Dhakal, and Himesh Pant are contesting for the post of men’s joint general secretary.
Similarly, Julie Yadav, Bidushi Sharma, Kamini Kumari Chaudhary, Nisha Dangi, and Rima Bishwakarma have filed their candidacies for the post of women’s joint general secretary.
