Security bodies conduct on-site evaluation of border polling stations in Sunsari

INARUWA: Security agencies have carried out on-site inspections of polling stations located along the Nepal-India border in Sunsari district in preparation for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election on March 5.

To ensure a peaceful and secure voting process, joint monitoring was conducted on Wednesday by representatives of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department in coordination with the district administration.

Chief District Officer Basudev Ghimire said inspections were undertaken at polling centres in Barju, Dewanganj, Harinagar and Koshi rural municipalities, all situated near the Indian border.

According to him, the monitoring aimed to assess the physical condition of polling centres, identify sensitive locations, formulate crowd management strategies and prepare contingency plans for possible emergency situations.

Security agencies in Sunsari have pledged to remain on high alert throughout the election period to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
