Prompt justice on cards for sexual violence survivors, Minister Gautam says



KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam has said that the government was working for policy reforms to provide prompt justice to the sexual violence survivors.

During a discussion organized by the Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday, Minister Gautam shared that policy level reforms are initiated to curb the cases of sexual violence against women and children, and cybercrimes.

“The Ministry is working to introduce stern legal provisions for strengthening digital justice system, reduce financial crimes and control corruption,” Gautam added.

Similarly, she said that preparations were ongoing to ease the legal consultation process to resolve the issues of the delayed infrastructure projects adding that this was aimed at expediting the development of physical infrastructures.

Minister Gautam argued that access to laws should be ensured and preparations are ongoing for human resource management and victim-centric physical infrastructures to enhance the effectiveness of the transitional justice system.

During the meeting, the HoR Members suggested that policy reforms were needed to ensure justice to the people below the poverty line, control misuse of AI and increase effectiveness of the health care services. (RSS)
