Nepali Congress to hold 15th general convention in October

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has decided to hold its 15th general convention in October.

A meeting of the party’s central working committee held at the party headquarters in Sanepa on Wednesday endorsed the revised schedule, deciding to hold the convention in Kathmandu from October 2 to 4.

As part of the convention process, ward-level conventions will begin from August 19, the party said.

Earlier on Tuesday, party President Gagan Thapa had proposed holding the convention in September during the central committee meeting.

Party spokesperson Dev Raj Chalise said the meeting also formed an election committee under the chairmanship of senior advocate Prem Bahadur Khadka to initiate the convention process.

The meeting further decided to move forward with an all-party discussion on constitutional amendment under the leadership of the party.

Spokesperson Chalise also said the party expressed its best wishes for the success of the upcoming government and pledged constructive support for good governance and development.

The meeting also formed a study committee under the coordination of the party’s two general secretaries to make the party’s sister and well-wisher organisations more active.
