KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley fell to 8.0°C early this morning, according to the Weather Forecasting Division. The reading was recorded at 5:45 am, showing a noticeable drop from Tuesday’s 11.5°C at the same time.
Over the past week, minimum temperatures in the valley have fluctuated, with Monday at 9.0°C, Sunday at 9.1°C, Saturday at 7.5°C, and Friday reaching 12°C. Meteorologists note that clear skies at night tend to lower minimum temperatures by morning, while cloudy nights usually keep them higher.
The Division measures daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature, recorded at 8:45 am, reflects conditions from night to morning, whereas the maximum, recorded at 5:45 pm, indicates daytime conditions.
Experts say that while daily fluctuations continue, the overall trend shows rising temperatures as winter nears its end. Cloud cover during the day can reduce daytime highs, while sunny skies allow temperatures to rise.
