EC publishes personal details of HoR candidates



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has published the personal details of candidates who have filed their nominations for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for March 5.

Under the provisions of Section 22 (1) of the House of Representatives Member Election Directive, 2082, the Commission released the personal information submitted along with the nomination papers of candidates registered for the first-past-the-post election system.

“Making candidates’ personal details public is essential to ensure a transparent, fair, and credible election process,” said Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.

The details have been made available on the Commission’s website to help voters, stakeholders, media, and the general public access necessary information about the candidates.

A total of 3,486 nominations have been registered across 165 constituencies for the first-past-the-post system. Among them, 3,089 are men, 396 are women, and one identifies as another gender. Nomination registration was completed nationwide on January 20.
