Floods and landslides block several roads

KATHMANDU: Various highways across the country remain blocked today due to floods and landslides triggered by rainfall.

While some roads are completely blocked, one-way traffic is being allowed on certain sections. Local administrations have also imposed nighttime traffic restrictions on some roads.

Traffic has been banned at night along the Siddhicharan Highway in Solukhumbu. Similarly, a landslide at Halesi-1 along the Mid-Hill Highway in Khotang has reduced the road to one-way traffic.

Nighttime traffic has also been banned along the Tokha-Chhahare road section at Ghattekhola in Shivapuri-8, Nuwakot.

Meanwhile, only one-way traffic is being allowed along the Prithvi Highway at Jwangkhola in Benighat Rorang-10 and Krishnabhir in Ward No. 7 of Dhading.

The flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Bhadra 20 continues to disrupt traffic on several highways in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. According to police, all major highways in Rasuwa remain completely blocked following the flood.

The Pasang-Lhamu road section in Nuwakot has also been completely closed until further notice, police said. Vehicle movement has also been banned at night along the Bhaise-Bhimfedi and Deurali-Kulekhani road sections in Makwanpur.

Similarly, the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road remains completely blocked by landslides in Arghakhanchi, while the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa is only partially operational.
