KATHMANDU: A meeting of the central working committee of the Nepali Congress began on Tuesday, with discussions underway on 11 different proposals.
The meeting, held at the party’s central office BP Smriti Bhawan, is being chaired by party President Gagan Thapa. General Secretary Pradeep Paudel presented the proposals at the meeting.
According to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal, discussions are focused on contemporary political issues, establishing good governance, forming an expert committee to study and suggest amendments to the constitution, the schedule of the party’s 15th general convention, and the formation of the central election committee.
The meeting is also discussing orientation for members of the House of Representatives of Nepal, a special campaign for the distribution and updating of active party membership, review and coordination of provincial and local governments, matters related to sister organisations and well-wishers’ committees, formation of the central accounts committee, and other issues.
Several central committee members expressed their views during the meeting, including Gopal Dahit, Taraman Gurung, Maikulal Balmiki, Ajay Babu Shivakoti, Bharat Kumar Shah, Sudhir Shivakoti, Shambhulal Shrestha, Narendra Kumar Kerung, Resham Bahadur Baniya, Jit Narayan Shrestha, Ramesh Dhamala, Deepak Kumar Shrestha, Basant Bhattarai, Janak Raj Giri, Shambhu Bahadur Budhathoki, Tirtha Jung Shahi, and Tek Raj Paudel.
Similarly, Keshav Raj Sharma Acharya, Ram Bahadur Karki, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Shiva Bahadur Sunar, Surya Bahadur Bik, Dinesh Sunar, Chhanda Bahadur Pahari, Jagdish Chandra Upadhyay, Ram Paltan Sah, Krishna Prasad Yadav, and Indra Bahadur Baniya also shared their views.
As discussions are still ongoing, the next meeting of the central working committee will be held again at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the party’s central office, Dulal said.
