Commerce Department fines three firms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined three firms in a single day as part of its regular market monitoring.

The Department took action against Suwa Grocery, Pramisa Food Store, and AJ Suppliers after finding irregularities during on-site inspections. Suwa Grocery, located in Bungmati, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22, has been fined Rs 50,000.

Similarly, Pramisa Food Store in Magargaun, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-18, and AJ Suppliers in Pandu Bazaar, Suryabinayak Municipality-6, have each been fined Rs 10,000.

According to the Department, the action was taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS.

The department also issued corrective instructions to 12 other firms. It has been conducting regular market inspections in the presence of local representatives, consumer rights activists, and other stakeholders.
